Flat yarn dryer fabric uses flattened or rectangular monofilaments in its woven structure. Compared with a circular yarn of a different profile, the flattened surface provides another way to design the paper-contacting area and the fabric’s caliper.
P.Rise considers flat-yarn arrangements where smooth sheet handling, controlled contact and stable running are priorities. The yarn shape does not by itself guarantee faster drying; openness, tension and the dryer system remain part of the assessment.

Applications
Printing and writing paper, packaging paper, board and pulp board can be assessed for flat-yarn fabrics. They may be considered in early dryer groups where sheet handling is sensitive, or at other positions where the contact surface is important. Each position requires its own permeability target.
