How to specify a paper machine dryer fabric
Dryer fabrics, also called dryer screens, support the sheet through the dryer section and work with the ventilation system to remove moisture. Fabric selection balances contact surface, air permeability, stability and resistance to the actual heat, moisture and cleaning exposure.

What is the difference between spiral and woven dryer fabrics?
Spiral dryer fabric uses interlocking monofilament loops joined with pin yarns. Round yarn and flat yarn dryer fabrics use woven constructions. Compare the available structures with the contact-surface and ventilation needs of the dryer position.

Is higher air permeability always better?
No. A wetter or weaker sheet may need more controlled air movement and stronger support. Permeability should match the dryer group, ventilation equipment and sheet stability instead of being maximized automatically.

What should be confirmed before replacing a dryer fabric?
Review the existing construction, dimensions, seam arrangement, permeability, actual thermal exposure and previous wear or contamination. Changes in grade, machine speed or ventilation should also be included in the specification.
